Tyler was nice enough to give us some time to discuss his overall recruitment, play style and timing of his upcoming decision. Tyler, who is 6’8 and out of Elkton, Virginia, is currently ranked top 75 in the country within the 2022 class. He has been made a priority by Coach Mike Young and his staff and would be a huge get for any school lucky enough to land him. Tyler could play a 3 or 4 in school and score from all 3 levels. He’d bring a ton of versatility and size to a Virginia Tech team that would love to plug Tyler in on the wing. Tyler will be visiting Blacksburg this weekend along side other top Virginia Tech targets – Rodney Rice and Braden Huff.
EVTB: For those who haven’t been following too closely can you tell fans a little bit about your game? Is there a certain player you model your game after?
TN: Most notable thing about my game is my ability to score in any way from anywhere on the court. I guard multiple positions on defense and I’m super aggressive offensively. I would say Jayson Tatum is someone i see as similar.
EVTB: What’s been your relationship with the VT coaching staff so far? Have you been closer with any of the assistant coaches or Coach Young?
TN: Coach Webster and Coach Young are who I normally talk to, I have heard from all of them though.
EVTB: Being from Virginia, did you follow VT much growing up? Any favorite players?
TN: Yeah I definitely watched them and knew about them. I watched all types of basketball growing up, but obviously living in VA you hear about Virginia Tech all the time.
EVTB: What’s the timing of your decision? Do you have a date you’re looking to commit?
TN: I don’t have a specific date, but my timeline is in the next month most likely.
Thanks again for taking the time Tyler and good luck in your decision! Hope you enjoy Hokie Nation!
